Why location moves the premium
Postcode rating reflects the cost of the hospitals an insurer expects you to use. Central London carries the highest loading in the UK because of the concentration of high-cost private hospitals; a policy written on a restricted or 'countrywide excluding central London' list can cost substantially less for the same member.
Local NHS waiting times matter too — they determine how often you will actually use the policy, and in some regions the gap between NHS and private timelines is far wider than the national average.
